Session: How to make a DIY "Goth Hoot" tee

1st step : preparing the stencil design:

draw the artwork on a paper / plastic sheet (you can also trace it.. let me know if u want a template). ensure that the artwork is not very intricate / detailed

cut the spaces like a stencil... remember the knife can cut fingers too ;) oh yes, please use a newspaper underneath while u cut or else there can be scratch marks at the floor... You can also use cutting board

hold it opposite to light to see if the cutting edge looks fine. Now the stencil is ready.

2nd Step : preparing to stencil design on tee

lay the tee, insert a plastic sheet inside (or else the other side of tee will be effected too)

place the stencil in right location

keep books at both the sides to ensure zero movement of stencil

3rd step: doing design effect on tee

use the fabric stain remover (I used "RIN ALA")... pour it in a sprayer.. ensure that all ur metal rings & bangles are removed from the hand (or, u can wear a glove too)

spray the stain remover on the tee via stencil....see how the colors change... spray more if you need different lightness at spaces

the 'dripping effect' makes the hoot really gothic

after the required effect, remove the stencil and gently wash the tee with fabric softener (as shown above)

do the detailing with permanent marker and hang the tee for drying....

draw more details once the tee is dry...

your tee gets ready, wear it and awe others ;)

DIY "Goth Hoot" upcycled Tee :)

it's fun and really easy to make a 'goth hoot' upcycled tee :) a good way to reuse the 'boring' monotone tees that you have already dumped. What you need is thick paper / plastic sheets, a tee, a stain remover (stronger the better), a fabric softener, paper cutter knife, pencil and patience —

SESSION: PLASTIC BOTTLES TO DIY BROOM

This is how one innovative little church in Brazil is turning an environmental problem into a solution - discarded plastic bottles into brooms! Take a 2-liter soda bottle, remove the label, and cut off the bottom. Use a pair of scissors to make ½-inch strips most of the way up the length of the bottle, and remove the neck of the bottle with scissors. Do the same thing again, except leave the neck on this one. Finally, cut a bottle 3-4 inches from the top. To assemble the broom slide the bottle with the neck left on to the wooden dowel, then slide the bottle without a neck on top of that, and finally the bottle top. Drill a small hole through all layers and run a wire or string from the bottom layer through the hole and around the broom. This will help keep the broom from coming apart.

SESSION: HOW TO MAKE NEWS PAPER DIY BAGS

We all have seen these newspaper bags around... but never tried to do it at home for domestic use (shopping... picnic etc.). So here's one session on how to make a simple newspaper bag.

STEP-1

Stack two sheets of newspaper on top of each other. This will be a two-ply bag for extra sturdiness. Cut out a rectangle that's 15.5" wide and 8.25" tall. If your paper already has a fold in it, align the existing fold with one of the fold lines in the diagram below, unless you don't mind an extra fold appearing somewhere on your bag. I cut out this rectangle, then flipped the paper over so the blue area would be on the outside of the bag.

STEP-2

Fold a flap 1.25" down from the top. Fold a flap 2" up from the bottom. Then measure off and make vertical folds in the places shown in the diagram above. The front and back panels are 4.5" wide, the side gussets are 3" wide, and you'll need a 0.5" flap for gluing the bag together. Cut two pieces of cardstock or chipboard to 4.25" x 1", then glue them on the widest two panels just under the top fold. These will reinforce the rim of the bag. Glue the top flap down along the length of the bag, covering the cardstock. Since the bag is two-ply, you'll need to glue both flap pieces down one at a time.

STEP-3

Put glue on the outside of the 0.5" tab and bring the left-most panel over to form the body of the bag, aligning the cut edge of the panel with the folded edge of the flap. Add a little more glue to make sure the outermost sheet of newsprint gets tacked down, too.

STEP-4

Fold the short sides inward as if you were wrapping a present. If it seems easier, you could also lay the bag on its side and crease those folds against the table.

STEP-5

Put glue on both flaps and fold them inward to form the bottom of the bag. Standing the bag upright and pressing down from the inside will help to secure them.

STEP-6

Cut a piece of chipboard to 4" x 2.5" and glue it to the bottom of the bag to reinforce it and hide the flaps if you want to be an overachiever.

STEP-7

Punch holes in the rim of the bag, adding eyelets if you like, and string some cord through the holes to form handles. Knot each end of the cord so it won't pull out through the holes. If you want to store your bag flat, pinch the top together, fold in the sides, and bring the bottom up so that it lies flat.

The end result is your DIY bag.
